Happy Birthday X 2

Almost one month ago, our boys turned 1 year old.

Here is a little look at their Birthday Party.

The cakes and the backdrop for the photo booth.  (More on that later)

After eating supper we had a pile of gifts to go through.  Everyone was so generous and we are so thankful their support.  The boys got everything from clothes and toys to cowboy boots and a basketball hoop.  It was funny how Jase opened a book and crawled over to Grandma to start reading it right away.  Jax opened a sippy cup and started trying to drink out of it immediately.

We posed for a quick family picture before everyone sang Happy Birthday.

It's their party and Jase will cry if he wants to.  Actually I think my thumbed nicked his lip when I leaned in to blow out the candle.

Each boy had their own smash cake.  Randomly Jase got the vanilla cake and Jax had the chocolate.

They dug right in

Then Jase decided to sit on his cake.

Jase decided he wanted to try the chocolate cake (he tends to be our stealer) and Jax was not happy about that, so he went to find his dad and started to cry.

It didn't take very long and the boys were done with the cake, so it was bath time.

It was a great evening to celebrate a very important milestone.

THANK YOU to everyone who was able to come and for all of your generous gifts.

Christmas

Now that everyone has long forgotten about Christmas, I will give you a quick overview of our holiday in pictures.
On Christmas morning, bright and early at 6:30 am, we opened presents at home.  The boys had just a few presents since we were about to have massive amounts of gifts from their first Christmas and Birthday.

Jase was the first to venture to the tree.

They both had two packages to open and at this point they didn't exactly have the whole thing figured out.

Bess was even in on the event.

After we had all of our fun at home, we headed to my parents house for waffles and white sauce, the Disney Christmas Day Parade and presents.

After presents we took time to look out the window.

Later in the day we took baths in the sink

At this point in the day we were suppose to go to Mikes parents house for Christmas, but several people came down with the flu, so we just hung out for the rest of the day.  We were able celebrate Christmas with the Bergens the following Sunday in Gothenburg, but I lost the video so imagine the boys under another pile of wrapping paper.

After several attempts of getting pictures of the boys in front of the Christmas tree, we were finally successful at the end of the day on Christmas.  It really was a wonderful holiday season and so fun to experience it with almost one-year-olds.

Family Pictures

On a Sunday morning for about 30 minutes we went to a local grain elevator to take some family pictures.  Luckily my mom knows a thing or two behind a camera, so we got some good shots in a short amount of time.  Here are the results with a few humorous outtakes.

12 Months = 1 year

Well we made it to the one year mark.  There was never a question of if we could do it or not, but it feels good to look back over the past 12 months and see just how much the boys have changed in that relatively short amount of time.

During this month the boys...

Spent a week away from mom and dad while they were on a cruise
They were all smiles when we got home from our trip
So happy to see us :)

Have no bottles at night most of the time and sometimes sleeping through the night

Had our first bout with the flu.  Jax had it first and vomited every 30 minutes from 1:30am – 6 am.  Jase had it two nights later and vomited every hour from 9:30 pm – 3 am.  Having sick kids is the worst especially at this age when they don’t have any idea what is happening to them and they just want to throw up on you or the floor.  Luckily Mike and I escaped the whole ordeal without getting sick ourselves.

Celebrated their first Christmas.  We decorated the house minimally about 5 days before Christmas so we didn’t have to keep them way from the tree and the presents for weeks.  They did pretty well around the tree, but we did have to move the presents out of reach after they figured out that they could rip the paper off.  Speaking of presents, by the end of Christmas and their Birthday, they pretty much had the gift thing figured out.

Have taken and interest in climbing which has slowed their progress on walking a little.

Love to eat holiday potatoes and hot dogs

Wear size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 at night and 12- 18 month clothes

Love to crawl through tight spaces and under things.

  • Says Mama, Dada, NaNa (Grandma), Baba (bottle), says no no when he is doing something he knows he shouldn’t
  • Has a huge interest in steps

  • Loved mandarin oranges until he threw them up
  • Had a diaper rash for a few months that finally cleared up
  • Took first 5 steps while mom and dad were gone.
  • Sticks his tongue out and rubs it on his bottom teeth
  • Has 10 teeth and is working on #11
  • Pretends to talk on the phone

  • Doesn’t say distinct words but jabbers up a storm
  • Tries to crawl up the side of the bathtub and other things that are too high.  Successfully climbed into the bath tub head first, fully clothed, while we were running the water.
  • Would pick wrapping paper off of a present one small piece at a time and then hand it to a person near by.
  • Likes to climb up and down the couch if we take the cushions off and he doesn’t mind one bit if he falls or rolls off unlike his brother.

  • Will stand up in the middle of the room by himself multiple times in a row
  • Has 6 teeth and is working on some more

Stay tuned for posts about our family pictures, vacation, Christmas and the first Birthday party.

11 Months

We have less than one month until the boys turn ONE YEAR OLD.  It is hard to believe that they are that old already.  It is also hard to remember what they were like when they were newborn because they are so much bigger and active.

This month we have noticed that they call out for each other when they are in different rooms or can't see the other one.  They aren't in distress or worried about the other one, but it is more of a conversation like "Brother are you there?" "I'm Here."  They have not been apart much since they were born, so it is natural that they want to make sure the other one is there.

We are currently wearing size 12 month clothes and some 12-18 month clothes.  When we wear shoes they are size 3-4 and we wear size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 diapers at night.
